About Us

History

The Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology (DPMB) was carved out from the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy in 2014. The DPMB consists of Department members with expertise in Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Bioinformatics and Computational Microbiology. They apply these skills to a wide range of exciting problems in human and animal health. The Department is among the six departments in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences which award Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The postgraduate studies in the Department will soon commence.

The department is committed to the University’s mission of teaching, learning, research and community development services in the field of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Immunology. It is aimed at producing men and women who are well-trained in all facets of Pharmaceutical Microbiology with the main purpose of meeting national and international needs in the area of healthy living.
